This page is a good one! It was produced by the 1998 New Media Workshop at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. The main menu on the home page is set out like a 'Monopoly' board game. The site offers a brief history of stress study, and reports and information about stress management methods (sports, toys, pharmaceuticals…). The site also offers some fun games and stress quizzes.

UK branch of ISMA (International Stress Management Association). This site is really a good source of information. The 'Conferences & Events' section presents details of forthcoming conferences. The 'Stress News' section has articles covering a wide range of stress-related topics. The 'Need Help With Stress?' section offers two articles full of tips and advice on how to deal with stress. There is a "Useful Books" section also. Links: To 'General Information' and 'ISMA members pages'.

American branch of the ISMA. There is plenty of information on this site, including useful tips in the 'Feature Articles' section (http://www.stress-management-isma.org/features.html). However, the site is more marketing-oriented than the UK branch. The site is not easy to navigate.

This site was developed by Scott Wallace, who has a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, and who currently works as a consultant in the health industry. It gives a comprehensive overview of different stress-related concepts (symptoms, the fight or flight model, and so on), as well as tips and advice on managing stress. The site also has other sections dealing with 'depression', 'love and family', 'spirit and well-being' and 'the workplace'. You can download shareware software, and the site contains many resources for stress management, time management, planning skills and so on. The stress management page presents a useful article entitled 'Mastering Stress' with tips for stress-free living.

Metro Toronto Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). The CMHA is a national network with 135 branches in communities throughout Canada. It is dedicated to the promotion of the mental health of all people, and to ensuring the provision of the best possible services for people with mental health problems. This is a commercial site developed by 'Futurehealth Inc'. http://www.futurehealth.org/stresscn.htm provides quotations, as well as the usual stress management and relaxation tips, some articles and links. The 'Low $ Stress Tools' page http://www.futurehealth.org/stressma.htm is full of interesting information for the trainer about the gadgets and tools sold on the stress management market such as 'Stress Check Cards' or 'Stress Control Biofeedback Kits'. The layout of this site is confusing, and navigation poor: Scrolling needed.

This site was developed by Dan Johnston, a clinical psychologist who has been providing counselling and teaching for over twenty-five years. The site contains many interesting sections. There is a stress test that measures the impact of stress on your life
http://www.lessons4living.com/stress_test.htm, a discussion forum and a "book store" that presents Dan's favourite books and videos with links for each item to Amazon.com so you can order online. Only 6 stress-related links are presented in the links section. The 'Managing Stress' section (http://www.lessons4living.com/stress%20topics.htm) presents an interesting discussion about the effects of technology on stress. The site offers free stress management lessons (http://www.lessons4living.com/relax1.htm). It also offers slide shows and audio files relating to the topics being discussed, especially in the 'Lessons for Living' section (http://www.lessons4living.com/wmaz.htm).

This is the site of ibak.com, an online shop selling herbal-based products (sprays…) aimed at helping people manage their stress. The site provides 'quick fix stress tips for busy people' and focuses on breathing techniques and exercises. This is the site of LearnWell Resources, Inc., a Californian non-profit public service and benefit corporation that aims at improving and extending education. To that extent, it offers free online courses in numerous subjects. The site offers many courses on health, ethics and study skills. They can be taken for fun (free) or for approved Continuing Education certificates. One of the courses is dedicated to stress management and is entitled 'Less Stress' (see at http://www.learnwell.org/stress.htm). There are good links, and a quiz that you can take online.

This company provides training services throughout Australia and overseas Although it is a business-oriented web site, it contains a many pieces of good information. There are an article about stress, written in a scientific style, and many methods (see the amusing but effective tombstone method at http://www.stresstips.com/tombstone.html), tips and stress evaluation tests and quizzes.
