http://flag.blackened.net/revolt/wsm.html
This is an Irish web site by the Workers Solidarity Movement.
It deals with the problem of racism in general and prejudice against
travellers. It contains a huge database of subjects related to prejudice
and racism. This is useful to a trainer. Unfortunately, the e-mail address
does not work, so it is not possible to interact with the site owners.

Beyond Prejudice
This site suggests what a prejudice-reduction training course should
offer, and what training materials are available. On the Home Page,
there are links to these topics: Myths about Prejudice Reduction, Quiz
on Prejudicial Behaviour, PRO- Action (this gives an outline of a group
activity aimed at reducing prejudices), Train the Trainer (this gives
an example of a replacement theory used by trainers on prejudices).
Two of the links, Frequently Asked Questions and Web-Related Pages,
both of which would be very useful, are still under construction.
http://www.nmci.org/index.htm
National
Multi-Cultural Institute
This web site deals
with diversity training. It is very useful for a trainer as it explains
why such training is valuable to an organisation. It gives an outline
of the courses they offer. There are two case studies described which
have been tested in training settings and were found to be of great
use to trainers as they describe real life situations. There are sample
lesson plans: for Teaching Skills and Cultural Competency: A Guide for
Trainers. Links: the external links are slow and many of them do not
work.

Community
Relations Training is a Northern Ireland web site. Its strategic aim
is to help the people of Northern Ireland to recognise and counter the
effects of communal division. Its objective is to promote the improvement
in community relations and the appreciation of cultural diversity. It
has a page on training for ethnic minorities including a list of other
publications that would be of use to a trainer. Links: it has outside
links to other Irish and European related web sites.
http://www.careerlab.com/default.htm
This Career Lab web site has a good article called Suggestions
for Keeping Prejudices out of your Organisation. It gives feedback from
interviews with four senior Human Resource executives on this topic.
The trainer gets four different perspectives on how their companies
deals with prejudice. To find the article, click on Your Company and
then Articles.
http://www.msu.edu/home/
This is the home page for the Michigan State University. If you type
in "prejudices" it will give different course outlines available at
that university. This is useful for someone starting off to get a perspective
on the different courses available and the various reading material
that is out there. The most useful of these links, to a trainer, are:
Stereotyping and Prejudice and Attitudes and Prejudice. They would serve
as a guideline for a lesson plan and provide booklists for reading materials.

Society For Human Resources
The subject of the site is Diversity Training. It goes through possible
reasons why a training course might not go well and how to cope with
these problems. It also gives information on how to measure your results
to see how successful your training has been. The home page has an easy
to follow menu with a quick access to all the pages available. Some
pages are "members only", but casual browsers have access to a lot of
good information.

Learning Without Frontiers promotes an open learning environment, free
from prejudice and intolerance. One of the links outlines a game which
promotes equitable relations. Instructions for the trainer and the rules
of the game are explained. However this section of the web site appears
to be scanned in and thus contains no links to other pages in the website.
The rest of the web site maintains good internal and external links.
http://stop-the-hate.org/
Stop the Hate
This web site has a personal touch. The home page contains several quotes
from famous people (and some not so famous), giving their thoughts on
prejudice. Poems and anecdotes are also displayed on the home page.
These are useful to a trainer as they would provide an interesting way
of capturing the learners' attention. They also give the trainer an
insight to different people's thoughts on prejudice. Under the heading
Prejudice is an ugly thing, there is a true, but amusing, story relating
to somebody's experience with a prejudiced person. This would be helpful
to a trainer to convey the reality of prejudice and maintain the interest
of the audience. There are other useful links such as How to fight hate
groups in your town.
http://www.creative-training.com/index.html
Creative Training Solutions
This
is a commercial web site. It provides a synopsis of the training courses
that the company offers. There is information about courses on managing
diversity, understanding and interacting with different personalities,
leadership during change and interpersonal communications.
http://optima-training.com/index.html
Optima
Training and Research
Another commercial site. This company also provides a training course
on dealing with diversity. There is a sample training program aimed
at helping the individual as well as the organisation to maintain and
exhibit a positive outlook on diversity. Also included is a section
of a diversity quiz that would provide trainers with ideas.
http://www.greencircle.org/
The Green Circle Program, Inc. is a national organization that encourages
people to widen their circles of care and respect in order to embrace
differences. Founded in 1957, Green Circle has over 40 years of experience
offering human relations and affective education programs that assist
children, adolescents, and adults to become aware of, understand, accept
and respect individual and group diversity. The program helps children
develop positive social skills and attitudes that can assist in respecting
and learning from the diversity they find within themselves, their families,
their community and their world. It elaborates on points such as promoting
a better understanding of individual difference and promoting a positive
sense of self-worth. There is also a section detailing their up-and-coming
training sessions. Links: there are useful external links to lots of
related sites.
http://id-www.ucsb.edu/IC/TA/ITA/teach.chart.html
This site presents a paper which focuses on the diversity of learning
styles for different cultural groups. These different styles mean that
the instructor has to adopt teaching styles to suit the learner. There
are quotes from instructors describing their efforts to encourage students.
The main learning styles focused on are global and atomistic styles.
The font is rather too small for easy reading, and there are no headings
to aid navigation.
Links: none.
